About

Hausfrau “Homemaker. A confident woman who knows how to get things done”.

Hausfrau began with Jane Newey & Sam Clayton. It was their shared love of Interiors art, design and plants that brought these two neighbours together.

Today, the business is run by Jane Newey, a fine art graduate and practicing artist who has worked and taught in the field of visual arts & design for over 30 years. With a deep understanding of space, form and composition, Jane brings an artistic eye to interiors, creating cohesive, layered spaces that feel both considered and personal.

Her approach transforms rooms into three-dimensional visual stories, where art, objects and design come together with intention.

SUSTAINABILITY, IT’S WHO WE ARE.

When Hausfrau began it was clear just how many properties weren’t styled like real homes, there were no living plants, considered artworks or pieces with character, just furniture straight from a showroom.

Real homes are layered and lived-in, with items collected over time. At Hausfrau, there is a focus on selecting furniture and objects the team would have in their own homes.

With a particular love for vintage, especially mid-century furniture, Hausfrau prioritises selecting new pieces made from quality solid timber rather than fast design. We curate items that can be repaired, reupholstered and given a longer life, a thoughtful alternative to the mass-produced, fast-furniture world.

Sustainability is always front of mind.
